The Agriculture Department at DCAST was established in the year 2000-01. DCAST is also known as the oldest self-financed Agriculture Institute in Uttarakhand. The Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture and M.Sc. (Ag) Agronomy.

The Agriculture department at DCAST is an excellent resource for those interested in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agri-business and Natural resources. Students pursuing Agriculture course will study a wide variety of subjects, including agronomy, soil sciences, horticulture (fruit science & vegetable), plant breeding and genetics, entomology, plant pathology, animal sciences, extension education, plant biochemistry, agriculture economics, basics of biotechnology, etc. The syllabus is as per the guidelines of ICAR (Indian Council of Agriculture Research) and is designed to train students to understand ways of improving the crop production in a sustainable manner and to provide overall knowledge related to agriculture and related disciplines.

The infrastructure of the institution is committed to providing students with an exceptional learning experience. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that enable learning, research, and innovation in the field of agriculture. The Institute has a large farm site with a specific area provided to the respective domain for practical training of students regarding various agricultural operations such as land preparation, plant protection measures, sowing methods, cultivation, harvesting, etc.
