Department of Horticulture

Department of Horticulture at DCAST facilitates quality education along with strengthening and improving the theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the subjects under the undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) courses in horticulture particularly in Fruit science, Vegetable science and Floriculture as per the guidelines of HNBGU (A central University) Uttarakhand. It generates technology for improving the production and productivity of crops which should be knowledge based, knowledge driven and farmer centric and provides assistance in planning and development of Horticulture technologies and dissemination of the technologies to the students. It also coordinates and integrates the efforts for achieving excellence in Horticulture. The Department of Horticulture is facilitated with well-equipped laboratories, which include Horticulture, Soil science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Plant physiology, Plant pathology, Entomology, Mushroom culture, Vermicomposting, and Organic farming. Besides this the department has well maintained experimental and demonstration fields with different species of horticultural plants. All these integrated facilities impart teaching, research and extension services in different aspects of horticulture. The faculties are well qualified in the field of horticulture with M.Sc., Ph.D. and NET and having specialization fruit science, vegetables science and floriculture.
